The Origin Story

2015 - Present

Krishna Visvanathan and Scott Sage set out on a “there’s got to be a better way” adventure. Their vision was simple but bold: to build a venture firm that would stand shoulder to shoulder with early-stage founders—not just as investors, but as true partners through the hardest and most defining moments of company building.

That idea became Crane.

First to believe.
Last to leave.

This isn’t a tagline. It’s the way we work. We back founders from day one, working alongside them to unlock solutions, delivering unwavering hands-on support. When the path gets tough, we lean in harder. We stay in the trenches and see every project through, no matter the obstacles or complications.

We’re different.

Global by Design

While much of the venture industry is becoming smaller and more concentrated, we're expanding our reach. We believe outlier founders can emerge anywhere, so we're building one firm across Europe, North America, APAC, India, and beyond. Genius knows no borders. Neither should conviction.

The Meridian Principle

We believe talent is evenly distributed. Opportunity is not. That's why we actively seek founders beyond the usual networks and geographies, backing exceptional people before consensus forms. We don't wait for founders to find us. We go to them.

Built for What Matters Next

We invest in the building blocks of the future: the foundational technologies that make everything else possible. From AI infrastructure and semiconductors to developer innovations, enterprise systems, and hard tech, we partner with founders solving difficult problems that require patience, technical depth, and long-term conviction.
