Olix Raises $220 Million to Build the Future Beyond Silicon
By Richard Snee, on behalf of The Crane Team
At just 25 years old, James Dacombe has announced one of Europe's largest deep technology financings, raising $220 million to accelerate the development of a new generation of AI computing hardware.
As AI workloads continue to accelerate, the industry is approaching the physical limits of conventional silicon. The next decade won't simply require more chips—it will require entirely new computing architectures capable of delivering dramatically greater performance and efficiency.
That's the challenge Olix has set out to solve.
Deep science companies rarely move in straight lines. They require long-term conviction, exceptional technical talent and investors willing to believe before the market does. This milestone reflects years of ambitious thinking and relentless execution.
Why we're excited
AI has made compute one of the defining challenges of our generation. Simply making today's chips bigger or faster won't be enough. Companies like Olix are rethinking the foundations of computing itself. We believe Europe has an opportunity to lead in deep infrastructure innovation, and we're excited to see founders like James building technologies that could reshape the economics of AI for decades to come.
Congratulations to James and the entire Olix team on an extraordinary milestone.
